Limited, short-term housing assistance for local families facing financial hardship, paid directly to housing providers.

MMY's Crisis Assistance Program provides limited, short-term housing assistance to local families experiencing financial hardship. Assistance is considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to eligibility, verification, and available funding.
Requests must be local and verified or referred by a partner nonprofit. When approved, payments are made directly to the housing provider; funds are not paid directly to applicants.
MMY's Crisis Assistance Program currently provides housing assistance only. We are unable to assist with utility bills, transportation, car repairs, or other personal expenses.
What we do
Requests start with a phone call or email, or a referral from a partner nonprofit, and each one is reviewed case by case. Help is given with dignity and discretion, and the program is funded entirely by local donors.
Families who also need food can request a free food box through our Food Security program, and our Get help page lists every way to reach MMY. Before focusing on housing, the program also helped with utilities, transportation, meals, and donated cars, as the highlights below show.
Highlights over the years
- 2020
After the Nashville tornado, MMY and its partners provided more than 5,000 meals to people in need. During COVID-19, MMY made more than 60 direct rent or utility payments to local families.
- 2021
More than 50 families and individuals helped with rent, bills, transportation, and other urgent needs, with over $18,000 spent on direct crisis needs.
- 2022
We responded to more than 100 crisis requests. By then, MMY had spent over $150,000 on local crises since 2015.
- 2023
When a tornado hit Nashville, our team cooked and delivered hundreds of meals to victims with our partners at TIRRC and Seeds and Bridges.
- 2024
We responded to requests from more than 40 families facing emergencies, and supported many more through financial assistance and resource navigation.
Questions
How do I request housing assistance?
Call 615-640-0502 or email admin@murfreesboromuslimyouth.org. Requests must be local and verified, or referred by a partner nonprofit. Assistance is considered case by case, subject to eligibility, verification, and available funding.
Is assistance paid to me directly?
No. When a request is approved, MMY pays the housing provider directly. Funds are not paid directly to applicants.
What does the Crisis Assistance Program cover?
Housing assistance only. MMY is unable to help with utility bills, transportation, car repairs, or other personal expenses.
Do I need to be Muslim to receive help?
No. MMY helps families in Murfreesboro and Rutherford County regardless of faith or background.
