Annual drives for school supplies, coats, shoes, canned food, and personal care kits across Murfreesboro and Rutherford County.

From back-to-school supplies to winter coats, our community drives turn shared moments into shared support for families across Murfreesboro and Rutherford County.
Every drive is organized by our youth: they plan the collection, sort the donations, and hand them out.
What we do
MMY community drives are organized with partner organizations to meet a specific local need, and each one is led by one of our youth with the support of the whole team.
Beyond our regular drives, we respond when a need arises, from disaster relief close to home to earthquake relief abroad.
Our drives
- Back-to-school drive: Held every year in partnership with Murfreesboro City Schools, so children start the school year with the supplies they need.
- Coat drive: Warm coats and winter essentials for our unhoused neighbors in Murfreesboro.
- Shoe drive: Collecting shoes for Soles4Souls, which puts them to use for people in need.
- Canned food drive: Nonperishable food for the local food bank.
- Personal care kits: Hygiene and care kits for Archie's Promise and local groups serving people experiencing homelessness.
Highlights over the years
- 2021
More than 700 pairs of shoes collected for Soles4Souls through the Sanders Shoe Drive, over 300 care kits prepared for neighbors experiencing homelessness, gifts for local health care workers, and thousands of school supplies for local schools.
- 2022
Hundreds of back-to-school supplies distributed to almost 200 children.
- 2023
Almost 300 children received school essentials at our back-to-school distribution day, two truckloads of essentials went to earthquake victims in Turkey, and MMY at MTSU assembled care kits for domestic violence survivors.
- 2024
School supplies for more than 300 children for the 2024-2025 school year, plus neighborhood cleanups.
- 2025
Our summer School Supply Giveaway, run with community partners including city schools, served more than 400 children and 100+ families, with 100+ food boxes and bags distributed.
