Food Security
Free meals, food boxes, and Thanksgiving meal delivery for families facing food insecurity in Murfreesboro.
20,000+free meals served
No one in our community should have to face hunger alone. Food security is one of our highest priorities.
To date, our team has provided more than 20,000 free meals in Murfreesboro and home-delivered more than 500 food boxes. In 2025, our Giving Thanks by Giving program home-delivered more than 1,100 warm Thanksgiving meals across the city.
What we do
MMY feeds neighbors in several ways: free food boxes home-delivered to families in need, warm meals distributed from the MMY Center, meals for local shelters, canned food drives, and our Giving Thanks by Giving Thanksgiving deliveries.
Giving Thanks by Giving has run every year since 2015. On Thanksgiving Day, our youth deliver traditional holiday meals to families in need, local shelters, and first responders working the holiday, with the help of partners including The Alley on Main.

Highlights over the years
- 2021
More than 5,000 meals provided, 75+ food boxes home-delivered, biweekly warm meals launched from the MMY Center's drive-through, and the local shelter covered on Christmas Eve so staff could be with their families. Over 500 Thanksgiving meals delivered.
- 2022
More than 4,000 meals and 100+ home-delivered food boxes. Almost 1,000 Thanksgiving meals delivered to people in need, local shelters, and first responders.
- 2023
More than 3,000 meals and 150+ home-delivered food boxes, and almost 1,000 Thanksgiving meals prepared and delivered with The Alley.
- 2024
More than 700 families served through food drives and meal distributions, 300+ food boxes distributed across Rutherford County, and 1,100+ Thanksgiving meals for families, shelters, first responders, and unhoused neighbors.
- 2025
More than 1,100 Thanksgiving meals delivered to 300+ families and organizations by 60+ volunteers, and 120+ food boxes distributed to families in need.
