MMY's annual Ramadan service campaign: thirty consecutive days of community service across Murfreesboro.
30 Days of Giving is one of our flagship programs. Every Ramadan, our youth commit to thirty consecutive days of service, one act of kindness for every day of fasting.
Past years have included food deliveries, hospital visits, neighbor check-ins, and quiet acts of generosity that never make it to social media. Each day's activity is planned and led by a young person, with the whole team behind them.
The program teaches what Ramadan is about: gratitude, discipline, and caring for others, practiced in the streets and homes of Murfreesboro.
What we do
Each day of Ramadan brings a new act of service, planned and led by an MMY young person with the whole team behind them. Activities change from year to year, and have included food deliveries, visits, and help for neighbors in need.
Ramadan is also when MMY brings its community together: our Ramadan sports tournaments have drawn more than 150 youth over two days, our Appreciation Iftar honors local nonprofits and volunteers, and our Farewell Iftar celebrates our youth and their families at the end of the month.
Highlights over the years
- 2021
Listed as one of our core community programs: one act of kindness each day in Ramadan.
- 2023
More than 150 youth competed in our two-day Ramadan sports tournament, and we added a new outdoor Ramadan Lights Iftar.
- 2024
Youth served food to unhoused neighbors, delivered pantry boxes, and hosted a twinkle light iftar dinner for youth.
- 2025
MMY marked 10 years of 30 Days of Giving: 15+ youth-led activities, 200+ meals and food boxes distributed, and 50+ volunteers across Murfreesboro.
Questions
When does 30 Days of Giving take place?
It runs during the Islamic month of Ramadan, which moves about 11 days earlier each year. We share each year's schedule on our events calendar and WhatsApp community.
Can non-Muslims volunteer during 30 Days of Giving?
Yes. Everyone is welcome to join an act of service during Ramadan.
