From the Boys & Girls Clubs to MIST, we are committed to serving, mentoring, and preparing young people for leadership as they grow, including those who choose to join our leadership team.
The success of any event isn't our measure. The growth of the youth leading it is.
What we do
MMY supports young people's character, skills, and knowledge in faith, social justice, advocacy, leadership, good citizenship, and organization. We encourage, support, and fund our youth's own ideas for improving their community.
Leadership at MMY is real: each program is led in part or whole by a young person, and our board's median age was 25 in 2022. Most MMY leaders begin as volunteers and grow along our five-level volunteer path.
Our approach
Each stage of life has a place at MMY, from early childhood through college, with programs for moms too.
Children's Club
For children ages 1 to 8 and their moms.
SeasonalGirls' Club
For girls ages 8 to 14.
SeasonalBoys' Club
For boys ages 8 to 14.
SeasonalMIST
For 9th to 12th grade students.
MMY at MTSU
For college students.
Women's Club
For moms, with its own private WhatsApp group.
Boys' Club and Girls' Club run in seasons of a few months at a time. MIST runs once a year, usually in the spring. Women's Club runs year-round. New sessions and sign-ups are announced through our WhatsApp community and email updates.
Highlights over the years
- 2021
More than 13 youth directly led activities.
- 2022
More than 20 youth leaders each led at least one event, and we held our first leadership retreat in Pigeon Forge.
- 2024
More than 40 youth-led initiatives, plus workshops in leadership, community engagement, and faith building.
- 2025
More than 50 youth-led initiatives, and 26 MMY youth attended the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) convention with 4 chaperones.
Questions
Does MMY have programs for younger children or moms?
Yes. Our Children's Club is for children ages 1 to 8 and their moms, our Girls' Club and Boys' Club are for girls and boys ages 8 to 14, and our Women's Club is for moms, with its own private WhatsApp group. Boys' Club and Girls' Club run in seasons of a few months at a time; new sessions are announced through our WhatsApp community and email updates.
How can a young person become an MMY leader?
Start by volunteering. Most leaders begin at Level 1 and grow into co-leading and project roles.
What ages can lead?
Youth as young as 16 have led MMY programs with the full support of the team.
